Impacts of Charge Air Parameters on Combustion and Emission Characteristics of a Diesel Marine Engine

چکیده

In this study, the operating processes of a four-stroke diesel marine engine from intake valve closing (IVC) to exhaust opening (EVO) at numerous different charge air conditions were simulated with AVL FIRE code. The CFD models validated shop-test technical data. results showed that increasing pressure without cooling decreased actual amount supplied cylinder. As result, combustion process was suboptimal, resulting in reduction power and an increase specific fuel oil consumption (SFOC). addition, less cool chamber coupled elevated temperatures increased in-cylinder peak temperature, leading significant thermal nitric oxide (NO) emissions. contrast, by after turbocharging, entering cylinders increased. abundant helped better, significantly reducing temperature then NO formation. Better also power, which, turn, reduced SFOC. carbon dioxide (CO2) soot emissions reduced.
